These volcanic hills near Nairobi are famously described by Karen Blixen in "Out of Africa." The hills are on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, but visible from the Nairobi suburbs of Karen and Langata. Because this region is near the equator you do not have four seasons, but rather wet and dry seasons. For example, heavy rains occur in March/April. The hills are also relatively high altitude, so evenings and mornings are cool. You can obtain average temperature and rainfall figures by entering Nairobi at www.weather.com
