Ken writes: I have never traveled to Africa, but friends who have tell me it is a transforming experience. I went to a presentation by a safari company last year at the urging of a friend. I forget the name of the company but the travel they offer is all rather "high end" wine and tablecloths, not the "tour bus" approach. That turned me off a bit. I wonder if it's possible to find a genuinely informative tour without having it be either a mass transit experience or an over-the-top luxury event. Delta replies: Yes, if you want a really private safari that is real Africa, no pretension, but no discomfort either, contact my friend Mouse McConnell at Robin Hurt Photo Safaris [email protected]. They use mobile tents and prefer the old fashioned kind of safari life, out in the middle of nowhere. You will want to put together your own group or bring your family. Also did you read about my walking safari with Mark Houldsworth on the edge of the Serengeti www.deltawillis.com/reportserengeti.htm ? Finally, try the Special Interest Tours at www.parkeast.com/ecot2.htm
