Not surprisingly tourism is hurting from the news about unresolved land issues in Zimbabwe. However most national parks where visitors see wildlife are removed from the troubles, and travelers who ventured there recently found discounts of 20% to 50% between July and October, normally the peak season. Urban areas such as Harare still have occasional conflicts, and 1,700 farms are still occupied by African squatters, but as the U.S. State Department notes in its public announcement of 9 November, Americans have not been targets of violence.
